PVO ACTIVITIES 2014-2015

SEPTEMBER 24TH/25TH: BOOK EXCHANGE & BAKE SALE
Each child will be invited to bring in a book from their home to drop in a box in their classroom.  All of the books will be collected and set up as a "store" for the children to go "shopping" for a new book on their designated day after school.  The book exchange will be accompanied by a Bake Sale.  Volunteers will be needed to organize the collection of books, set up the exchange, work the exchange and make/sell items for the the bake sale.

OCTOBER 30TH/31ST:  CLASSROOM HALLOWEEN PARTIES
Each individual class celebrates in their own classroom.  Parents and siblings are welcome.  There is also a Halloween costume parade this day, before lunch.  Each class needs a sign-up for lunch items posted during the week before Halloween.

NOVEMBER 24TH/25TH:  THANKSGIVING FEAST AND PROGRAM
All parents and siblings are invited.  The children will perform a short selection of songs followed by a buffet lunch.  Sign-ups to contribute to the traditional Thanksgiving "Dinner" need to be posted on the Volunteers Need Board near the playground back door or "Sign-Up Genius" online.

DECEMBER 6TH:  CHILDCARE FOR CHRISTMAS
Fundraiser for Scholarship and Wish List Items.  Childcare provided for children 18 months and up from 9am until 1pm.  Provides parents with a chance to Christmas shop/run errands; followed by optional gift-wrapping services upon return.  Notifications sent out/flyers requesting donations for snacks, wrapping paper, tape and volunteers to help with wrapping.

DECEMBER 11TH:  STAFF AND TEACHER LUNCHEON
Christmas appreciation luncheon for teachers and staff.  Sign-ups for food and dessert, decorations, serving of food (doesn't have to be formal) set-up, clean-up, small gift collection/ goody bag assembly.

DECEMBER 18TH/19TH:  CHRISTMAS CHAPEL POROGRAMS
After the program in the chapel, each individual class celebrates in their own classroom.  Parents and siblings are welcome.  Each class needs a sign-up for lunch items posted during the week before the program.

JANUARY:  FLAPJACK FUNDRAISER IN FELLOWSHIP HALL
Date TBD.  Sausage, flapjacks, juice & coffee served on a Saturday morning to fundraise for Scholarship and Wish List funds.  Sign-ups for volunteers to cook, set-up, serve, clean-up.  Director usually purchases food and will have that available on the Saturday morning.

FEBRUARY 12TH/13TH:  CLASSROOM VALENTINES PARTIES
Each individual class celebrates in their own classroom.  Parents and siblings are welcome.  Each class needs a sign-up for lunch items posted during the week before.

APRIL 1ST/2ND:  EASTER BRUNCH AND PROGRAM
All parents and siblings are invited.  The children will perform a short selection of songs followed by a buffet lunch.  Sign-ups to contribute food for the brunch need to be posted on the Volunteers Needed Board near the playground back door or on "Sign Up Genius" online.  Volunteer needed for set-up and clean-up.

APRIL:  SPRING FLING FUNDRAISER/ICE-CREAM SOCIAL
Date TBD.  6pm-7:30pm.  Indoor carnival/activities for the whole family.  Fundraiser for Scholarships and Wish List items.  Ticket sales for games and hot dog dinners.  Ice cream sundaes are complimentary.  Organization for this event includes the following: Sign-ups on the Volunteer Board or using "Sign Up Genius" to run games/activities, set-up, clean-up, cook hot dogs, serve food and ice-cream, sell tickets/take money for dinners.  Also need a small committee to plan for, assemble and run the basket raffle.  Also need someone to organize the Art Auction.  Contact Alison Gump or Renee Anderson for more info.

MAY: TEACHER APPRECIATION DAYS AND TEACHER LUNCHEON
Each day during the week is assigned a certain "gift" theme (i.e. flowers, fruit, something sweet, note, picture, etc.)  One of the days the teachers stay after school and have either a catered lunch.  Sign-ups for dessert, decorations, set-up and clean-up.


***We are continually looking for new ideas for fundraising/class & school parties/holiday & fellowship activities and events.  Feel free to develop your own ideas/events and let us know.  Some suggestions are: Book fairs, Reading under the stars night, Produce box sales, Christmas party for parents and/or kids, Breakfast with Santa, Chili cook-off, Workshops for parents where guests are invited to speak on different topics, Service projects, School pet, Grow a garden/compost, Develop technology in the classrooms, Father/Daughter & Mother/Son events, School yearbook/picture book...
